my life is so lonely. looking for a life changing, motivational book?

its been a little bit of a crazy year for me this year.. ive begun my first year in college for one, away from a family which i never really have been able to fit into in the first place. i dont really have any relatives, its just me, my 2 siblings, and my mom, and quite frankly, they are all alike and i totally dont click with them, so leaving college was hard, but not really that bad for someone who never really had anyone to lean on in the first place. i also for the first time actually started to make friends for the first time this year. back at school, i have always been a bit too mature for my own age, so throughout high school, it was like i was quiet and very restrained, and no one really wanted to be my friend or let me into their lives because i was new and all cliques had been formed by high school years. it was like, the teachers understood me more than the other students, and i always found myself growing to really get to know and respect my teachers because i could talk to them and they would get me. so i kind of went through high school as a loner, but never really had much of a problem with it. i enjoyed just being me and for some reason never had a problem being just independent and left alone. but a major 360 this year, where i really started to make a group of friends, which actually strangely happened to be all guys, but still, i found that they are not always the genuine friends that care so much and would do anything in the world for me. so as far as my life has gone, i have yet to really understand friendship, because i would do anything for a friend, and a great listener and an amazing shoulder to be there for someone, yet no one has ever really been there for me. and my love life, which has been the absolute death of me. without being cocky, i am an extremely beautiful girl, breathtaking, but not the hott, sexy girl that the college guys are looking for a random hookup with. i am totally the relationship type of girl, and i get the attention, but not the right kind. and the guy i completely fell in love with, my good friend, used me to hook up with me, and then told me he cant do this, it would never work out, cause theres this girl at home he likes.

so in other words, i feel like my whole life people have always screwed me over. i never have had anyone to rely on, and as far as i have seen, many good deeds do go unnoticed, true love does not exist, and not everyone does discover real friendship.

i am looking for a book that will help me gain some strength in my life and help me discover true happiness. i dont have too much time to read, so i really want to make sue that this is a good one. i need something that will change my life, ya know? could anyone help me out here? i feel a bit like a lost soul…

I’m sorry to hear about how you feel. I used to feel left out at school but then i read the Obernewtyn Chroncicles by Isobelle Carmody. They are really good! It is about people who have powerful mind powers but if someone found out about their powers they would be burnt on a stake in front of many people. They are known as Misfits. These stories changed my life. Isobelle writes so well, every person who reads these series will feel addicted to them! Even my dad has read them and loved them! The books are:
Obernewtyn (book1)
The Farseekers (book2)
Ashling (book3)
The Keeping Place (book4)
Tthe Stone Key (book5)
The Sending (Forthcoming sometime this year, book6)

I spent 9 years of my life helping 4 very different people. Now what?

What if its your feeling to help someone who cant help themselves? Should you care? Should you sacrifice all you have gained to help someone in thier life? What if the answer is yes, but you just cant do it anymore? What if the answer is yes and it hurts more people but changes the life of one? If the answer is no, how do you live with yourself knowing that you could have helped that person, but you said no?
I have helped people who has lost hope in life. Thinking their will live and die alone. I helpep them bring that hope back in their lives. I have given them the taste of how wonderful life is. One by one, I have seen them come and go. Helping them stand up and walk with a chin up. Then I see another and let go of the previous. Feelings were complicated, hurt and loathe. Now I see myself, in the mirror. Thinking however much I help, there are more coming… When will I be able to make a difference in the world. I feel I am not doing enough… Neglecting myself and my life.. to make the life of other better… and for what cause? I have the 5th person currently and I realised it wont make a difference. I seen a drug addict, an innocent person being hated by all she loved, a woman who has seen deaths of those very close to her, a single child being played and used by the world, and now a person who is left in a country of to which she knows no english and relative and was raped.
……..I’ve lost all hope of helping… but sometimes I see people with problems, and instantly I know what will hapen to them…then I would just walk pass by them, with this feeling of guilt and hate… because they do not want to help me help them (if it makes sense).. I dont know if what I am doing is even worth it. What change will it possible give to the world and how people will help themselves?!

I see other people so happy with thier lives and when I look right, i see a whole lot of diferent people. I know thats the way its life and all that. But I want to be one of those who are happyly walking around with no worries (even if there is some, but not as much as i have). Honestly, I dont know what I am trying to ask here… Is it mean for me not to help them anymore? Is it wrong for me to let them go once i’ve helped them, even if they beg me not to leave? Is it right for me to start caring for my ownself and stop caring what other peoples problems are?

“If you are devoted to the cause of humanity,

Wander through a few stores and write down anything that catches your eye that you would buy for yourself on any ordinary day. Don’t worry about writing down too much – it’s better to end up with a long list that can be narrowed down than a short list that leaves gift-givers with little to choose from.
Interesting.

From what I’ve gathered, you’re quite compassionate about this girl of yours, but my main focus here is the need to find out why you’re so silent.

I fully understand that shyness exists and is perfectly okay, but to always be silent? Not the best move. Is this something that is bottling your emotions and not allowing you to express the true you? If look deep inside yourself and find that being silent is who you are, you need to roll with that, and you will be accepted for you. But what you should not do, is be rude about it. What I mean by that is, when someone asks you a question, simply answer it, it doesn’t have to be an essay, just give your opinion and end it, you don’t have to be the life of the party, but just talking a little is needed.

Also try to be in a good mood. I’m sensing that something is bringing you down and not making you want to be happy. You also need to smile, I know it sounds stupid, but just smiling for the sake of smiling makes you feel a lot better about everything.

I hope this helped you in some way.

*Edit* I’ll rephrase this bringing you down part. I’m meaning something other than this issue

It is said that different people look at the same issue differently?

take for example, the Iraq war, those pro-war will argue that US should attack Iraq because of the injustice, gross human rights abuse, as well as crimes perpetrated by Saddam Hussein. Therefore, war on Iraq is justified.

Those who are anti-war would argue that the time, money, casualties spent on a losing war is just too much, not to mention losing credibility and reputation from allies alike.

What about the war on Gaza by the Israel recently, Lipvi Tizni argued that there will be no peace so long Hamas continue to control the Gaza. Israelites are at stake with the rockets being fired almost on an everyday basis. People live in fear not just in Israel but in Gaza where the Hamas warlords would use children, defenseless women as shield to achieve its political gain.

On the other hand, those who are with the Palestinians would see this as a war between the Jews and Muslims. Jews did to Plaestinians what Hitler did to them. Jews killed women, children, as if to wipe them off from the face of the earth.

What about those who believe in democracy as the best political system thus far and those who are with the other side, who tell them not to force democracy down on those who do not believe in it?

SO THE QUESTION IS: IF WE ALL LOOK AT THINGS DIFFERENTLY THROUGH OUR OWN ‘BIAS, PREJUDICE, HATRED, BIGOTRY’- NOT JUST IN THE INSTANCES CITED ABOVE, BUT ALSO THROUGH OUR EVERYDAY’S LIVES-BIG AND SMALL DECISION….. IS THERE NO TRUTH ANYMORE?

Is everything so relative, meaning I’m not anymore wrong than you are, neither are you anymore right than I am? So are we all hypocrite in our own way?

When I was small, I was taught to listen to other’s view because you’ll never know you may be wrong. Now I am not so sure about it anymore.

Lately I’m so peeved when somebody said something which I disagree very much and wonder why there’s still people who would listen them. But on the other hand, if everyone insist that they are right, no matter how I say otherwise will not go through either.

The cops may be ignorant about why he might appear to be drugged when he isn’t and if neither he nor anyone else challengea them, for example by asking for a drug test, the police and the court may perceive it as him admitting to it. Having one such offense on his record, being “caught” again in the same situation may get the police and the court to assume he’s guilty for the same offense he has on his records. This may keep repeating itself if nobody defends him.

If this man is innocent of the charges, he needs someone to stand up for him and defend him. A local disability organization or a lawyer working pro-bono may be able to help. You and/or someone else who knows this man should offer to help.

How do I get away from untreated mentally ill relatives?

I am finally, finally starting to realise that I don’t have any obligation to be around the mentally ill relatives in my family. I was always told that ‘family is family’ and to some extent I took the blame for their bizarre and out of touch with reality behaviour.
I’ve seen a psychiatrist for 15 years and although she never met my mother, she did speak with her on the phone when my mother called her looking for me. My doctor was more upset with herself that she almost fell for my mother’s manipulation. My doctor almost gave out my address, then she snapped out of it when she realised what was happening. She could have lost her license! After that my doctor had new found respect for the manipulation I had experienced at the hands of my so-called mother. She said to me that although she never met her, from talking with her on the phone and from the events I had told her of she thought perhaps that my mother was psychotic. This made me feel a bit better that we were able to put a name to my mother’s illness. It did not make me feel better about the physical and emotional abuse I had sustained.
My sister is the same way. She and mother got together and accused my daughter of stealing my sister’s ipod. They, of course, didn’t mention their ‘problem’ to me because they knew I could prove otherwise, instead they sneakily went behind my back and tormented my daughter about it. Finally my daughter got up the courage to tell me what they had done to her. I confronted them, and It turns out that my sister had the ipod the entire time but it was lost in the mess of a condo she lives in. They make up crazy paranoid stories about people….not just me and my daughters, but everyone. My ex is the same way, he thinks ‘I’m living it up’ and so refused to send child support payments, meanwhile we were counting on the payments.
I have now cut ties with my mother and my sister and I’m considering not responding to my ex and just going through the proper channels to obtain the child support. But I still feel angry that my children and I were wrongly accused of so many horrible things. How can people say things about members of their own family without proof, even with the presence of obvious and evident proof that it is made up and delusionional. How can people go along with mentally ill people?

What Is the reason behind people Jealousy…………!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Why Some people get jealous of each other ……..like they are the centre of the universe while there are much more important people on earth …………

90% Of people i met in my life are jealous of me & like to bring me down nevertheless I find my self a very normal person just like every one else ………Nothing to be jealous off ….

a small example few weeks ago i post a photo for my self on some of the internet profile & a friend commented ……ohh it looks like you lost weight ….( how did you manage to dress like this your outfit doesnt go together …?
Note for the last 10 years i have the same weight i never lost or gained weight ….what kind of comment is that ?not like i was fat & i lost weight or whatever ……

I didnt reply …1 day after she posted the same photo same pose same CLOTHES…!!!!!!wtf…
If i have a specific hair style they will tell me ohhh it doesnt suit you it looks whatever …
after i know for sure from my hair dresser they go & ask him to do the SAME HAIR DO LIKE MINE OR HAIR CUT ETC …..if they dont like it why they want the same ………….!!!!or doesnt hurt so much to say a nice compliment …
i’m not talking about 1 or 2 friends i m talking like 20 or more …..act the same way ….

Most of those people have nice families & nice life still all they do is just comparing them selves & say bad things behind my back still pretending to be my friends ?
why they just cant be happy for each other …….

why people cant be honest with ONE FACE ?

For example : if a friend asked what are your plans for new year

& i said im traveling for vacation on new year she why she would feel so jealous ?
I know this for fact because other friend tells me how they pretend to like me but they just like to know whats going on with my life ……………..!!!!im not angelina julie ….

i mean there is a lot of people in the world who are much more important than a normal person

My question is shouldn’t they feel jealous of an important person instead like celebrities or top models what about them ?
for sure they get most of life so instead of getting jealous of relatives /friends etc ……we are just normal people …………..what is the reason behind this jealousy psychology ?

Thank u in advance ..

It seems as if they feel you look much better than they do. I know females are that way, so they tend to try and make you feel bad but at the same time copy what you do as to try and look as great as you are. I would just ignore their bad comments, for what they are really saying is that they like the way you look or what you do, as they want to be like you. As friends that talk about you behind your back, is really a false friend and you cannot trust them. As I would not call these types a friend, for you cannot trust them. You do need to find some real friends that you can trust and be able to share things with, as a real friend will not ever try and put you down and will not talk to people behind your back. But do not let what these fake friends say bother you, for they do this just because they are jealous of you. When they say something bad about you just smile and say, it bothers them not me. As they may then stop saying such things, for they will see that it will not bother you.

You know I have never been able to understand why females feel as if they do not look as good as another, but they feel they should. For looks is not all a guy looks for. Looks are just a part of what they look for in a female. As most normal guys that are not just looking for sex will look for other details as well. As to spend their life with, as yes they also want the females to have good looks but that is not the main thing they look for. For they are looking for a female to spend their life with and to do so will have to be more involved than just looks. So I just cannot come to understand why females are so worked up only about their looks.

How to build trust with people again after you have been betrayed so many times ?

I have experienced one of the most betrayals in my entire lifeIf you know how the mechanics of the theory of six degrees of separation works you will understand.

I have a distant cousin,a female, who lives on the other side of the planet and she has a girlfriend who lives in the country where I live
However she had been badmouthing me with her saying that I am mean ,homophobic , have aids ,I am not to be trusted etc etc and the thing is that I bearly know her.Anyway her girlfriend, whom I have never met , both know the same type of people from various backgrounds
through my mothers girlfriends son and his girlfriend ,yes my own parent is involved in the drama too.

My cousin has known who I have dated ,socialised with, travelled to and even worked and any gossip she gets from her friend she tells my extended family given them the impression that I am living a reckless life, for example , we all have gay friends who we socialise she found out that I had been to a few gay clubs and told them I am gay, which I am not, she even got me fired from a job embarrasingly by saying that I would abuse gay/lesbian there because of my homophobia- I have lost everything because of her tongue ,money ,job, social network – I have not confronted her because she lies and manipulates an my ma has said a word to me either. This has afffected me greatly as I feel isolated in my neighbourhood since all my so called friends have disowned me as it took years for the rumours to spread

As I love women I do not want to become bitter and twisted towards them but I cant help thinking that the closest to you can screw you up. How can I build up trust again in people I am so weary but I used to be a gregarious person.

I am a good looking and intelligent man and people do warm to me very soon on a first meeting , even the same sex I may hasten to add ,which she has heard about ;I wonder if she could be jealous as she has been sending me emails that are somewhat offensive- shes such a b@@@tch

I am so hurt by this behaviour that things will never be the same again
when I see her and my extended relatives.

Please advise me

How do you cope with the hostility from others who preferred the fatter you?

I gained weight during my college years, and then went on a yo yo dieting spree for many years (from 19 to 26). Sometimes I’d be thin, other times I’d be anywhere from 20 to 60 lbs overweight. Something clicked last year and I’ve FINALLY been able to maintain my weight loss.

I’ve been at a reasonable weight for almost a year now. The only problem is, the people who I thought cared about me seem to have turned on me. My mom flat out told me that she doesn’t like skinny people (I’m nowhere near skinny by the way). Other relatives joke about me looking like a crackhead (I am 130 lbs, 5’2, so thats BS). Friends of mine who started the diet with me but didn’t quite make it are avoiding me. On top of all that, I had to let go of a romantic interest I had held onto for SO long.

It’s a hurtful situation but I wouldn’t trade this feeling for anything in the world. At the same time, I stll have 10 more lbs to go and all this negativity coming from others has made me lose a lot of motivaton.

Trust me on this one! They are all just jealous. One of my best friends made a crack about how I couldn’t wear a smaller skirt because my belly would hang over it. This from someone who thinks that if she works out once in a blue moon that she’s working hard. I was extremely skinny when I was growing up and into my 20s. I got my boobs done when I was 32 to feel better about myself. The problem was, my weight started creeping on. I had surgery and shot up to 145 (I’m 5’7″). I had weighed 135 beforehand. I have since dropped from 145 to 124. I feel better about myself than I have in a LONG time. Unfortunately, I just had gallbladder surgery and a right tubal ligation done two weeks ago and I’m slowly getting my butt back in gear but now I have some more lovely scars to look at. (lol) My other best friend is my biggest cheerleader. She tells me how great she thinks I look while my other friend just has to be nasty. My family is a little nasty about too. My family wants me to hang it up because I’m too old to try to get in shape. (I’m 37.) I just try to ignore them and go on with my life. Try not to let them get you down.
Why do people feel the need to say to strangers “cheer up”?

I did not know him, I had never spoken to him before so why on Earth did he think he had the right to tell me how to feel?
Why do some people feel the need to mock religions?

I’m talking about movements like the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Invisible Pink Unicorn, Tarvu, and now, just one I saw just a few minutes ago on another question here on Yahoo Answers: “Frisbeetarianist”.

I understand that you do this on some level to show us religious people that you think our beliefs are nonsensical. But I think it borders on the line of disrespect. For one, would you do it to your children? Would you do it to a friend who just lost a relative? Would you honestly tell such a friend that his/her relative is with the Flying Spaghetti Monster right now?

I understand that you may not see the value in religion, but I think mocking it goes too far. We’re not doing the same to you. We could make a parody organization of people who mock religions, and I’m sure you would hate it and call it disrespectful. My religion means a LOT to me, and many other people also feel very deeply about their chosen religion, just as you probably feel very deeply about your paths as atheists.

I think the best way toward world peace is to just accept the fact that we’re not going to agree yet still respect and understand each other. Mockery is not a form of respect. I’m a Christian but I would NEVER mock atheists or any other religion in any way, I would never convert them or expect them to believe as I do. I’m always looking to understand where they’re coming from. I even have friends who are atheists and we get along very well and respect each other.

But when SOME atheists mock Christianity (or ANY other religion), then to me, it’s like reducing someone’s belief in God to some mythological or nonsensical fabrication that we can ALL agree do not exist! When we disrespect each other and can’t step away from our beliefs long enough to respect others’, that is how wars start.

But that’s just my opinion and theory. What do you think about this? Why DO people feel the need to mock religions?

Stephen Clinton answers:

I’m glad that you as a Christian feel that way! I also wish we could simply ‘agree to disagree’. Here are my thoughts on why so many do not.

Yes. Those beliefs exist as a method to show that theist beliefs are nonsensical. But the bigger question is, why do Atheists, particularly in the US, feel the need to do that? Of course, given the ongoing conflicts across the globe, some do it out of desperation to convince theists to realize that certain types of fundamentalism can cause grave harm to humanity as a whole. Others do it as a way to justify their philosophy. Let me explain the latter.

Consider the Atheist bus campaign that ran globally last year. The messages were truly not that offensive, in my opinion – and that of most of my moderate Christian friends. The purpose of the campaign was primarily to *let Atheists and Agnostics across the planet know that they are not alone in their beliefs*. In some places in the world, there is still an intense stigma against Atheism, and people can have a fear of reprisal by their community if they speak up. However, the campaign drew intense criticism by groups across the country. There have been biblical messages and church advertisements on buses as long as buses have had advertisements. Why did this one campaign draw such shock and disgust?

Because…. It is still not socially acceptable to many theists that we exist. To you, this is an intellectual and theological disagreement that can be compromised on. To some fundamentalists, we pose a threat to the very moral fabric of “Christian” society. They do not believe that we, A) Can be productive members of society, or B) Can truly believe what we say. There are plenty of people who very publicly parody and make a mockery of Atheists.

The day when I and other Atheists do not have to swear to a god to testify in courts, take a political office, or join the military will be the day that I feel that Atheism and Theism have learned to co-exist. The day that we can agree that the ‘Golden Rule’ is acceptable to maintain ethics, whether people accept it out of rationality (betterment of humankind) or theology. I have no problem at all with people practicing religion should they wish to. But it should not be a cultural taboo for me to not wish to act in this way. And it should not have a negative impact on the fate of humankind (terrorism, etc).

Just my thoughts, hope it helps.

Is this essay good? Its suppose to be an essay about our own heaven.Thank u?

Heaven Is Not What I Thought It Would Be

I’m outside my house talking to friends, the sun is still up and the pungent smell of spices fill the air. When all of a suddenly the earth beneath me rumbles and houses around me begin to shake. My friends fall on the ground in fear. I heard a loud scream I recognize to be my grandmother’s voice. I started running to my house, careful not to slip on any rocks. When I reached the front of my house, the ground split and the earth swallowed me whole. The darkness over took me, there was no light to cling onto,I died. My Heaven was not what I imagined it to be instead it was hell on earth.
When I regain consciousness I knew two things: I died and the darkness that still surrounded me is my “heaven”. I always thought heaven would be paradise, a better version of the garden of eden. There were no angels in white silk robes or fountains of the best tasting water. I looked around for my relatives that died in the past but none was there to guide me. The ground I stood upon was not made of gold it was the same ground that swallowed me moments before.
My soul left, my body but didn’t reach the heaven I prayed for and believed in, I was stuck on earth. Here on earth I saw an earthquake that only lasted fifty-three seconds and cause so much devastation. The place I once called home was destroyed. Roads were spilt in two, houses were slated and trails of blood led to dying people.Dust filled the air and debris fell all around me, the air smelled of blood and sand. The screams of people echoed in what was a beautiful neighborhood.
People who died started walking with me one of whom was my friends. She approached me and asked : I saw you die, your clothes have no blood on them, why? I explained to her that I’m dead and she is too . Her face filled up with sorrow and she cried. I embraced her and we held hands. We watched our families look for our bodies, the people walking be hide us mourn the lost of their lives. The walk was unbearable, watching people scream in agony because all was lost made me want to die, again.
I came to a realization that my heaven is not blinding white light, silk robes and angels. It is reliving the detestation that claimed my life. I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve such a cruel fate, I thought I did everything right. I know there is no heaven beyond this point, I’m in “heaven” now with so many other broken hearted. I hope I can atone for whatever I did in my life so I can be free.

I need your opinion on this book please!?

I really want your opinion on this. Did I leave something out? Is there something in there that should not be? Just want to say: This Sucked!!!!? Please, I need all the help I can get. I am going to check out book from the library about the Titanic, and I have a couple of books, but I also need awesome peoples’ opinions. Really, say anything you want. I will not bite.

People laughed and cried as people about to board the Titanic said goodbye to their relatives. I, however, was not one of them. I was going on the Titanic, and I am only twelve years old. I could have bought a 2nd class ticket, but I decided to keep my money for more important materials. All I have is my sketching pad, my tools for that, and my clothes on me, my pockets only carrying a hundred dollars. For life. I only earn 10 cents a day. Sure, my drawings (usually landscapes and people) are really good, but nobody takes the time to socialize with a poor person. So there I was, leaving, going to America. I was pushed to the inspection doctors. The doctor looked at me with sort of a grimace. I could tell they wanted to be a first class passenger on the Titanic instead of having to check peoples’ dirty heads and bodies for and illness or diseases.
“Eh! You there!” another doctor called to me. The first doctor looked relieved. I slumped over to the second doctor, purely out of boredom.
“Let me check you. Hmmm…let’s see…no disease…healthy skin…but look at the state of his clothes!” The doctors chuckled to himself. I looked down at myself. Clean clothes! No stains! I was not sure if he intended for me to hear that, but I replied a smart-alic response anyway.
“I do beg pardon sir, but I believe my clothes are in a shape almost as fine as yours.” The doctor looked agitated.
“All right, sonny. Move along, or you won’t go. I can talk to the authorities. Next!” The doctor waved me on. I hated being called ‘sonny’. I walked over to the gangplank where a huge sign was adorned in fancy cursive: Third Class Passengars. The third class people were waved on board by bored looking officers and lutenats, and I looked around me as soon as I was up on the front part of the massive liner. The ground seemed far below me as I leaned up against the railing. I felt almost free, as if I owned the world. The cool air whipped around me, stinging a little. I slowly came back to the world when I heard an young Irish man yell at me.
“Oiy! You there! Put yer stuff belaw, laddie! I say Misser, if you be wanting a lost luggage, keep roaming around!” The man wobbled over to me, heaving his two luggage cases, his puffy marshmallow cheecks turning red. He grunted when he set down his bags, a strong scent of potatoes filling my nose. He was a short little man, no more than five feet tall. I looked around me.
“Ah, me brain is a-thinking ya have nathin to carry, am me right, lad?” I nodded.
“Yessir.”
“Come with me lad, I thinks I shall find yer berth.”
My birth?
Seeing the confused look on my face, he answered, “Yer BED, laddie.”
I awkwardly half-wobbled, half-walked with the man.
“Me Messers name me Fallon Swedel. What be yer name, lad?”
“Cael, sir. Not to be rude, but I would feel very much obliged if you stop calling me lad.”
“Aye, Cael. Yer Messers give you a last name?”
I chose not to answer. I walked with the reddish-blond haired man until I found my cabin.
P.S I am 13 years old and this is hard because I’m writing literally 6 books right now and I’m reading like, 8.

Hhm ok I am not sure about your opening line>>>>People laughed and cried as people about to board the Titanic said goodbye to their relatives.

The only reason being you repeat the word “people” twice in the same sentence, why don’t you try something like this>>> People laughed and cried as they boarded the Titanic and waved goodbye to their loved ones.

I was going on the Titanic, and I am only twelve years old.<<<< tense switch here from past to present.

Try<<>>>> All I have is my sketching pad, my tools for that, and my clothes on me, my pockets only carrying a hundred dollars.

Try>>> All I had was my sketch pad, my tools and my clothes that I wore. My pockets only carrying one hundred dollars.

So there I was, leaving, going to America.<<<< start a new paragraph here. And cut of the "So, there I was" change it to something else.

I think you have a great story here, just needs a bit of work.

I love your dialogue, it read really well

Which of these families deserves government mortgage help?

Please tell me which of the following families deserves government mortgage help:

A. single mother with three kids. working, never married, child support erratic at best. bought a house in 2006 with a 5/1 ARM subprime loan. can’t afford payments now that the introductory low interest rate is ending.

B. married couple with two kids. both were working in 2005 when they bought a house using an alt-a loan. she lost her job in 2007 and her new one pays less. his self-employment business is slowing as his customers feel pinched and do without his service due to the “recession”. two months behind on payments with reset to higher rate in November.

C. married couple without children. Lost their house to foreclosure in 2007 after he was disabled in a work accident. Disability wasn’t enough to continue making the payments after his medical costs soared.

D. 83 year old widow. Owns her house free and clear, but can’t afford the property taxes and insurance because houses in her neighborhood tripled in past ten years due to easy money loans and thus many buyers. Now can’t sell as the market has crashed. Six months past due on property taxes.

E. couple with two college age children who re-fi’d their house in 2006 to pay their childrens’ tuition. Closed a 401k to make tuition payments in 2007 and borrowed from relatives to pay again this fall. House is 45 days past due but older child doesn’t graduate until December 2010.

F. Retired couple whose only regular income is small pension plus social security. Their retirement assets in stock market have taken a beating this year. Borrowed in 2004 against their house when he had a heart attack that caused his early retirement [which crippled his pension]. Rising costs of gas and food have made them 30 days past due and they have no way to catch up without further damaging their retirement assets.

G. Manager and stay at home wife with two children in public school. He lost his job two years ago — it was outsourced to China. Now works at Home Depot, but the money isn’t 1/3rd of what he used to make. Still looking for that managerial job, which costs hundreds a month in extra costs. they’ve gotten their foreclosure notice and are thinking about filing bankruptcy to buy time.

H. Market trader and retired wife who lost $125,000 when his short sales were arbitrarily ended by SEC order in this financial crisis. Hasn’t made trading profit since last October. Now two months late and getting daily phone calls from mortgage servicing company asking for money he can’t pay if he is ever to recover his losses in the markets.

I. Retired couple who saved and planned out their retirement for last 25 years. Retired in 2007 owing nothing, but living off 401k payouts and social security. their assets are down 25% so far in this recession and they’ll have to cut costs next year, which means short selling the house into increasingly bad market and paying bank off on the loss over next who knows how many years [if ever].

J. Sixty something widow whose assets were wiped out by husband’s death via Alzheimer Disease and private nursing home for 4 years. Has only Social Security now as all their retirement assets except the house went to pay the nursing home. Took a mortgage in 2005 to pay off the husband’s medical bills and burial.

***
please tell me which, if any, of these families deserve government help in staying in their home or recovering their home.

This question has no political point to make and is solely to gather information regarding what the Y!A public thinks America’s public policy should be.
While all of these situations are real to some family, I carefully crafted each of them to show a case where the people involved arguably are losing or lost their home because some other part of our economic system had a breakdown.

In theory, none of these deserve government mortgage help, imo. Some of them needed either less or more government in some other part of their lives and because of that issue, were financially savaged to the point of losing their home.

Afaic, the mortgage industry should NOT bear the brunt of other failures in America’s systems — doing so only distorts the economy even further.

Did the mortgage industry have its own failures? YES.

Mostly, they had a failure of spine. They didn’t stand up to Congress and HUD in the 1990s when both needed to be told that their rules were requiring the banks to write bad loans that shouldn’t have ever been made.

Big government needed to be told “NO”.

Hey Hey Almost drepessed boy!
Come on! Life use to do stuff like that with us so suddenly.
Yah. 10 years is kinda LONG TIME, but it’s not 11, u see? Could be worst.
Your feelings? Oh man, it’s hurting I know, but could be worst too.
If someone tell you u need self-help books this someone will be lying. YOU ARE PRETTY OK. And it’s time for you to see the positivy side of it all. She never deserved you or your time or your money.
Women aren’t seeking money as the midia says. They seek confort and that’s what money provides them. What we can’t let happen it’s when this confort become the first thing of the relationship (that happens plenty times, just like in ur case). HOW TO DO THAT? It’s easy. Showing the girl u are dating that you are the one who say the rules. It must flow in your way.

Ten years bro. Yah, ten years that are making u feel like crap, but if u see it better, profoundly, u’ll see more than that. YOU’VE BEEN LEARNING SO MUCH ABOUT WOMEN BEHAVIOUR WHILE THIS TIME and that, noone can take away from you anymore. Lots of the bad-ass guys with girls outside would like to know 10% that you do when it comes about “living together” (don’t need to be living together at all, in the same house, got me? :S). And the best part of it all is that the learnt part will be used with ur nexts love experience by ur subcounscious without u even notice. U’ve become even more mature.
I’m sure you would never hurt urself. U seem not to be this kind of jerk. Face the trouble my friend! Beat them all. The adrenalin that u feel after wining the batles are stimulant enough.
Go out. Find new friends. Aproach new chicks and never pass over urself just to please one of them. Women are humans just like us and for our luck, the society put us as the leader of the relationship. What else we want?! HAHA That’s gorgeous. Pity that only a few guys know how to use that. Become one of them

What do you think of my story? Have any opinions/ suggestions.?

Trapped in the Forest

There were three animals: Martin, the parrot; Grace, the cat; and Mark, the goat. The three animals were best friends. They live in a village in Texas. The three planned to go to Daytona Beach, Florida. They were excited to go to the beach. From Texas to Florida, the three has to cross these three states: Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. The three had crossed Louisiana and now they’re in Mississippi. While driving in Mississippi, the three were unaware and had no idea that there’s a tornado behind them. The tornado carried away the car they were riding in. “I hope we don’t die” Mark said. The car they were riding in landed in the middle of a forest in Mississippi. Martin had a headache because he was badly hurt, had bruises on his right wing and left leg. Grace had a big, bloody wound on her back, and cuts on her face and legs. Mark’s leg was aching and had bruises all over his body. “This is hopeless” Grace said. “Don’t lose hope” Martin said. “I hope we can get out of here soon, without getting eaten, or killed by a lion, tiger, or snake” Grace said. “I was not expecting this to happen to us” Martin said.“Oh no! The glasses of my car are broken, and a door of my car is missing and one of the wheels of my car is flat” Mark said. “That’s terrible” Martin said. Grace looked around and saw a lion near them. “Quick hide! There’s a lion nearby” Grace said. They hid at the back of the car. The lion did not see them. While they were trapped in the forest, Mark ate the grasses and fishes there, Grace ate the fishes there, and Martin ate some worms and fishes. They drank water from the river in the forest. They also took a bath in the river. They also cured their bruises and wounds using their First Aid Kit. After 20 days, all their bruises and wounds are cured. They also pray everyday that they will get out of the forest soon and they’ll be safe there. Moreover, they always tried to find ways to get out of the forest, but they always fail. They felt unhappy, worried, and afraid everyday. They were almost eaten by lions, tigers, and snakes, but they were always lucky enough not to get eaten by those animals. Those animals just wounded them. Their families, friends, and relatives are worried already and they were crying everyday. They felt unhappy, worried, and afraid everyday, and they told about them to the police. They tried to find them everywhere and everyday but no one has a clue where they are. Their families, friends, and relatives thought that they were dead because of a car accident or they drowned in the beach, or someone abducted them and never set them free. They tried calling their families, friends, and relatives through the cellphone but Grace lost her cellphone because of the tornado. Martin forgot to bring his cellphone and it’s at his house in Texas. On the day when they were trapped in the forest because the tornado blew away their car, Mark was standing up while playing games in his cellphone, then he accidentally slipped and his cellphone fell in the river. A week after the 20th day, the three decided to sleep at the back of the car. They forgot to close the back of the car. Mark woke up because he felt like he was being watched. He checked what it was and he was shocked to see an anaconda in the car. He quickly gets the things they are going to use and wear in the beach, and their food. He woke up Grace and Martin. The three ran so fast while the anaconda was trying to chase and swallow them. The three were able to find a way to get out of the forest. The anaconda wasn’t able to chase them. “Yehey!!! We’re out of the forest” the three shouted happily. Mark’s car is still in the forest. The three just rode in a bus going to Daytona Beach, Florida. They crossed Alabama and they already reached Florida. They had fun there and they stayed there for four days. They went back to Texas and they told to their families, friends, and relatives of what happened to them and they thanked God that they’re still alive. Martin, Grace, Mark, their friends, relatives, and families are all crying when they saw each other.

I am wondering if it would make more sense to change the parrot to a wood pecker since they don’t have parrots here. That is not a big deal, but something to consider. Change village in Texas to Houston, Texas. Houston is a city, in the south they don’t use the word village, that is something they would say in the New England states. If you make the story from Houston, they trip could go from Interstate 10 going east, it would be a straight shot to florida and then they could take Interstate 95 going south once they got to Jackson Florida to Daytona Beach. Just a thought. Put the middle of the Desoto National Forrest in Mississippi, that would be correct. No lions this far south, Bears are a stretch, but could happen, I think wild hogs are the big drama here now, and in Desoto they are having problems with the wild hogs now too. Maybe foxes and coyotes. Snakes would be rattle snakes or copperheads. When Grace sees a lion, change that to wild hog, or brown bear. The hog is more believable than the bear. If you use a woodpecker instead of a parrot, that would make more sense for eating worms. I don’t know if birds eat fish. Again, change lions and tiger, you won’t find them in America unless they are in a zoo. It wouldn’t likely take a rescue team a month to find someone lost in the woods. You should make a comment that the woods were really thick with trees and that the three could hear rescue helicopters, but they couldn’t see them because the trees were so thick. That way it explains why it took so long for someone to find them. Change a week after the 20th day to On the 27th day in the Desoto National Forrest, the three decided to sleep (in) the back of the car. (Americans would say sleep in a car, and remember to mark time in your stories so we can follow the time lines. I guess Americans have to have time lines. Ha ha) Wait a minute, Mark had a cell phone to play video games, he could have called *55 (the number we call for emergencies on the highway) and got help, and the police would have found them. His battery wouldn’t have held a charge for 20 days. Change anaconda to rattle snake or copperhead. I am not sure if copperhead is one word or two, so maybe you should go with rattle snake. The snake would scare them and they would scream and run, but the snake would go in the opposite direction, not that they would notice since they were running, but for the integrity of your story. When they get out of the forrest, the forrest Rangers let them call home so their families will know they are o.k. The forrest Ranger then takes them to the bus station and they take a bus to Daytona beach and they had fun there and stay four days. AAA Insurance company tows Marks car back to Houston Texas. They went back to Houston (by bus or plane), and they told their families……..The rest of the story is fine. Pretty good story, you are getting better at these. Just remember to work on the time lines and we don’t have tropical animals like lions and tigers here. Those kind of animals would be in Africa. When you are writing these stories try typing in the search engine something like wild life, or wild animals in the Desoto National forrest, or what ever area you are studying in class. That way you have integrity to your story. Good job.

You really need to ignore them all it is you that is the most important person here. If you want to lose weight just go ahead and do it but make sure you are doing it for yourself and not to prove a point I am sure you will look stunning when you have gone through your transformation but please do make sure it is what you want to do. Good luck

Serious help needed about green card status?

I am a US green card holder for 2 decades. Ever since I got the green card, I never managed to secure a job in US as I was too highly educated and I did not want to work for $7 per hour. Upto 2005, my brother supported me with food and accommodation. He fed me for 15 years and still wants to look after me food/accommodation wise. But he makes $40K per annum and pays mortgage and fees for daughter at University. As a result he lives on bread and water but fed me better. It is 2010 now and I have not been able to go back to US due to lack of funds (to get food stamps in US I have to have paid 40 quarters of taxes but I have never worked and never filed taxes. I did do 15 years of unpaid voluntary work to help five needy/disabled neighbours. In UK I get state benefits so I have no bills for my food or accommodation or medicines (I am seriously diabetic). I had a friend who overstayed out of US for 2.5 years but me managed to get into US via Toronto, canada because often if you flash your green card, they just let you pass. Another person I read about, he was out of US for 3 years but he said I only left 10 weeks ago and immigration officer let him in. This is because when you leave US, there is no immigration so if a green card holder leave USA, they do not know when you left (compared to tourist visa when they attach a slip in your passport which airline check in people remove so they know when you left the country). Yet another person I read about as follows. This person left US to go to France to attend a wedding. 10 days later when he was returning, he found out that he left his green card in a relatives home who is not contactable. There was no time to wait so he decided to enter US under visa waiver having electronically registered the same in US embassy at Paris. Then he came back to France within the time it said on the sticker stuck to his passport. He then collected his green card and entered US with his green card and there was no problem.

There are three scenarios above and I need to ask which I can get away with. This is the last time I will leave US, You guys will think I should not be allowed to enter US as I had no intyention of staying there. Not true. I could not stay due to lack of funds and was ill with diabetis and could nto pay doctor and even a dentist. I am now in touch with a person who says he will give me below minimum wage for 18 hours work per day for at least 15 months.

I do need to enter US and I am at my wits end. Please advise as I do not want to lose the green card. I wish I had done a few hours a week job when I was there upto 2005 or even applied for citizenship and then I could have been out of US even for decades.

Help from legally qua;ified people greatly appreciated.

PS: Does US now keep records for departure from USA (for green card holders) and how about me entering US via Toronto or may be under visa waiver and then return to UK within the expiry period and then enter US again but with green card.

Stephen Clinton answers:

Hate to bust your bubble, but the US DOES keep track of all who enter and LEAVE the US..including green card holders (my husband is a green card holder) IF (and this is a HUGE if) you managed to enter the US again….understand they will catch this. Either when you apply to have your green card renewed or when you apply for citizenship. During renewal of green cards, and citizenship processing..they have a lot more time to comb over your record, and will discover your extended absence from the US. At that time you will be placed in removal proceeding. Your green card has been dead for many, many years now. If you want to legally return, you need to start the process all over again.

I-130, Petition for Alien Relative from London?

I am a US citizen living with my husband in UK. I applied for his immigration visa in November 2010 using I-130 petition and sent to US embassy in London on address given on their website which is:
USCIS Field Office
Post Office Box 2444
London W1A 5WT
Till today they have not even deducted the payment from credit card and we are really worried if they have lost our documents somewhere. I have sent several emails to scslondon@state.gov asking if they have received my documents however every time i get a standard response saying call this number 09042-450-100 and i could not speak to anyone on this number, it looks like it’s just an IVR and answer to my question is not available on IVR.

Does the following economic plan look good?

1. Tax Reform

    * Eliminate Taxes on Dividends and Savings. The basis of capitalism is savings, and Americans who do so should be rewarded.
o Pass HJ Res. 23 to encourage savings over consumption.

    * Repeal the Death Tax. Attacking small businesses and breaking up family farms smothers growth and kills jobs.
o Pass H.R. 2734 to make the Bush tax cuts permanent.

    * Cut Taxes for Working Seniors. Grandmothers and grandfathers working to make ends meet should keep all the fruits of their labor.
o Pass H.R. 191 to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the inclusion in gross income of Social Security benefits.

    * Eliminate Taxes on Social Security Benefits. That money belongs to seniors, not the government. They paid into the system for a lifetime, and they should be free to spend every penny as they see fit.
o Pass H.R. 192 to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the 1993 increase in taxes on Social Security benefits.

    * Accelerate Depreciation on Investment. We need to help companies grow and create jobs.
o Pass H.R. 4995 to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to reduce corporate marginal income tax rates.

    * Eliminate Taxes on Capital Gains. Investment should be embraced and rewarded.
o Pass H.J. Res 23 (The “Liberty Amendment”), proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States relative to abolishing personal income, estate, and gift taxes and prohibiting the United States Government from engaging in business in competition with its citizens.

    * Eliminate Taxes on Tips. The single parents and working students who earn their income chiefly through tips deserve to keep all of their money. This tax on “estimated income” is unfair and should be ended.
o Pass H.R. 3664 to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide that tips shall not be subject to income or employment taxes.

    * Support the Mortgage Cancellation Relief Act. Working families who lost their homes should not be punished a second time with a big IRS bill.
o Pass H.R. 1876 to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to exclude from the gross income of individual taxpayers discharges of indebtedness attributable to certain forgiven residential mortgage obligations.

2. Spending Reform

    * Reduce Overseas Military Commitments. Our bases and troops should be on our soil.
o It’s time to stop subsidizing our trading partners in Europe, Japan and South Korea.

    * Freeze Non-Defense, Non-Entitlement Spending at Current Levels
o I vote against all bloated, pork laden spending bills and will veto them as president.

3. Monetary Policy Reform

    * Televise Federal Open Market Committee Meetings. An institution as powerful as the Federal Reserve deserves full public scrutiny.

    * Expand Transparency and Accountability at the Federal Reserve
o Pass H.R. 2754 to require the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System to continue to make available to the public on a weekly basis information on the measure of the M3 monetary aggregate and its components.

    * Return Value to Our Money. Legalize gold and silver as a competing currency.
o Level the long-term boom and bust business cycle by passing H.R. 4683, which would repeal provisions of the federal criminal code relating to issuing coins of gold, silver, or other metal for use as current money and making or possessing likenesses of such coins.

4. Regulatory Reform

    * Repeal Sarbanes/Oxley. It has seriously wounded our capital markets and helped make the UK a financial center at our expense.
o Ending these misguided regulations would bring jobs flooding back to the United States
o Pass H.R. 1049 to reform Sarbanes-Oxley and reduce the burden it places on small businesses.

    * Repeal or Remove Costly and Unnecessary Federal Regulations. Neighbors know best how to help their neighbors.
o We need to make it easier for community banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions to better serve their communities and to help people in these communities get access to credit and capital.
o Pass H.R. 1869 to enhance the ability of community banks to foster economic growth and serve their communities, boost small businesses, increase individual savings, and for other purposes.

What do you think of this from the Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidaz?

The Arsenal chief executive has said the funds are available for Arsene Wenger to spend it on a/some “world class” players

He also said that Arsenal are defiently not finished in this transfer market and there will still be some activity.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jul/18/arsene-wenger-arsenal-transfer-budget

Ivan Gazidis says Arsène Wenger has a “substantial” transfer budget and there is no practical or ideological barrier to him spending plenty of it on a single “world-class” player.

The Arsenal chief executive offered a measured yet robust endorsement of the club’s self-sustaining business vision, maintaining they must consider the “efficiency of spend” and that they had to do things differently to the very biggest spenders because “we don’t have those kind of resources”.

But, in the face of supporter frustrations at the relative lack of in-coming deals thus far, Gazidis made it plain that Wenger had identified the squad’s shortcomings and he would be backed in the quest to address them. The manager has already signed the striker Gervinho and the young right-back Carl Jenkinson for a combined £11.6m while Gaël Clichy has moved to Manchester City for £7m.

“We still will be active in this window,” Gazidis said. “We haven’t finished our business at all. We’re just not conducting it publicly. We’re working hard privately. We understand where the weaknesses have been.

“Financially, we’re in a strong position. We have resources to spend. We’re certainly not sitting there saying ‘Let’s hold back on our resources for some reason.’ Why would we? The resources are there.

“They’re not there to compete with the Manchester Citys of this world and, frankly, if they were, Manchester City would just increase their bids again. You’re just never going to be able to compete with limitless amounts of money but we’ve got a substantial amount of money that we can invest.”

Gazidis is aware that a section of the support crave a big-money statement signing and he said that Wenger, despite his reputation for preferring diamonds in the rough, was not opposed to making such a purchase.

“If we found an established, world-class player and we thought the economics made sense and he would add to what we could do on the pitch, then there’s no philosophical objection to that,” Gazidis said. “Arsène has no point of principle to show the world that he can build his own team of young players. That’s just not the way it is.

“Our fans have the right to be excited, to look forward to the season with anticipation and to expect to see top-class players and exciting things happening on the pitch. It’s our goal and target to deliver all of that.”

Gazidis believes Wenger’s style and vision is so pure and his ambition so great that when the team falls short, the disappointment is magnified. Yet he argued, as Wenger has done, that it was important to have some perspective.

“The reality is that most fans love this club and think what we’re trying to do is fantastic,” Gazidis said. “It’s easy to lose perspective on what Arsène is trying to do … which I think is an extraordinary vision … but if you look around, the fans we have around the world … that vision is very, very attractive and very, very powerful. We should be proud of that.

“People should want that in the game. It’s a fantastic thing for the game, I really believe that. It is one of the points of difference for Arsenal and something that drives admiration around the world.

“Listen, we have to deal with some realities in the game. Domestically, the league has been dominated by Chelsea and Manchester United in recent years. They’ve been the biggest spenders and, although they’ve done a fantastic job, it’s probably not a coincidence and now you see Manchester City and what they are spending and they are going to be in that bracket as well.

“We have to challenge for trophies in that environment and we will. But we’ve got to do things differently because we don’t have those kind of resources. Our approach is partly driven by vision; it’s partly driven by necessary strategy.”

Arsenal and non Arsenal fans, without the usual nonsense response that these questions usually get, what do you make of what Ivan Gazidas has said?

Stephen Clinton answers:

For the sake of the club, I would hope that they put their money where their mouth is.

A couple of quality signings would be of immense value to the Arsenal club, and I’m not just talking about monetary value.

Time will tell, I guess –

Good luck for the coming season.

Can I get your help finding a lost relative?

I am looking for a relative of my husband’s named William Dewey Bodie. This man should be (if alive) about 81. He has resided in the states of Mississippi (home state), Texas, and Louisiana. He was last seen by my husband in the late 80′s when William D.Bodie lived in Louisiana. I have used google, yahoo, ask, zaba, & public records now. Wondering if anyone knows of good search sites to find people or obituary sites. My yahoo answers profile has the e-mail me option incase something comes to your mind after this question expires. Thanks.
The William D. Bodie I am looking for was born Feb. 1927 in Wiggins, Mississippi. This man adopted my husband and some many years later walked out of his life. Left him fatherless again. I am just wondering what happened to Mr. Bodie. Mr. Bodie has a daughter last know as Zona Jeanne Striebeck. Don’t know if she has been remarried. I have called all numbers found under Mr Bodie’s name and all are disconnected or have new owners. Thanks so much for your help.

What is your position for the re imposition of the death penalty in the Philippines?

Vice President Binay is gunning for the re imposition of the death penalty in the spat of 3 persons murdered( shot and burned beyond recognition.) The Philippines death penalty was abolished by GMA in 2006 if I’m not mistaken because she is about to go to the Vatican for a papal blessing at that time. From then on those who are given the death sentence was reduced to life imprisonment. I for one like the vice president Binay should re impose or bring back the death penalty. Not this kind of death penalty which is the lethal injection. To me this is still kinda humane in nature, why not try the 3 brand of death sentence in the US like hanging, the gas chamber and the electrocution. In Malaysia a firing squad, in China one shot over the head. And since the Philippines is subdivided into 3 islands like Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Let us impose 3 kinds of death sentence in Luzon it will be hanging, in the Visayas electrocution and in Mindanao which is notorious place it will be the gas chamber. So if you commit a crime in Mindanao and escape in Manila and was caught. You will be asked to be tried in Mindanao and if found guilty will suffer the gas chamber. Of course this is merely a suggestion and knowing the Phillippines has no budget for this sort of things it will just remain a thought. Another yapper asked the same topic which is:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AofuXhOaMWeHBkm5z1sN3dBaDX1G;_ylv=3?qid=20110117062615AAhrUJZ

Here he touch on the religious aspect of things. I do not think religion has anything to do with such implementation of the death penalty. It is the slogan “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth”. A person killed one of your love ones naturally he or she too deserve to die. Once you took a life, naturally the price you have to pay is also your life. Imagine yourself in the shoes of Mr. Lauro Vizconde and other people who lost their love ones in a very violent way. Iyon na nga lang mamatayan sa aksidente tulad ng bus or jeepney ang isang mahal mo masakit na how much more if one person or group kill your precious family. It is like a twin dagger hitting simultaneously your heart. And the suspects are still walking in your neighborhood.

PRESIDENT NOY is against the death penalty because he reason out that our JUSTICE SYSTEM is a major….major defective at the moment. So if that would be the case then OVERHAUL the entire JUDICIARY in the Philippines. This to me is a lame excuse not to impose the death penalty in this present time. It is like EVIL reigns in the Philippines at the moment and like Binay said “Filipino culture ang pinaguusapan natin dito at dahil sa Filipino dapat meron disiplina”. Tama lang na we should have a iron fist from this time on to impose the law no matter who they are.

I know a lot of Filipinos have different set of views and obviously have a twisted mind. My last question touch on the topic of erecting a monument some even said why not those who married a foreigners etc…ofw ang pinaguusapan na sali ang ibang topic. This is how small some people think on certain matters. This is how if you will notice some questions here in the Philippines section should be addressed to their respective mother or father at home. Some are looking for a long lost relative by posting the name and the telephone no. of that person imagine that. Some couldn’t translate a Tagalog words into English or vice versa. This is our youth of today that will inherit the Philippines? Some ask the weather, the sale of a thing in a mall how to buy this in grocery store etc…this only signifies how weak Filipinos are in terms of knowledge and information. They are asking questions in the wrong places. So what do you think of my question? Thanks.
@WH–I was touch by your answer but when you said you came from “Ange dating Daan” ni bro. Eli Serino, I already thought otherwise. Eli your pastor is a controversial figure in the Philippines. Even your religious sect is one of them. Isn’t he the one who was reported to have sexual liaison among his own parishioners? And when he is on tv he literally spit on the floor and bad mouth other religious personality in the Philippines. I think he was banned from broadcasting from then on. This is what you call a leader? Well its your choice not mine.

@JKoolJ— My intention is not to stand out among the others, neither I considered myself a genius in some sort. I am NOT. I still consider myself a moron. Still grasping for more knowledge. But when I dwell mostly at Philippines section, my longing for knowledge stand still or froze. I give long details for others to know and make their own conclusion. I do not just give question just for the heck of it, I wanna learn from you. Try to go to
@Wuh—and i forgot, i hope those grisly scene of brutal murders wouldn’t happen inside your own family circle. By then maybe you will be among us crying for the return of the CAPITAL punishment.

Funny, I was wishing for death penalty to be reimplemented last week never thought the vice president wants it too.

I very much agree with Binay and let’s start death penalty with Imelda. Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew said that the problem of the Philippines is its “soft forgiving culture” and he cited Imelda as an example. Everyone knows what the Marcoses did and yet Imelda managed to come back and still have power and run in politics. Where’s justice there? You can read the article here. Http://antipinoy.com/lky_phil/

I think it’s high time for death penalty to come back, the Philippines is very undisciplined at the moment. I’m also pro torturing before death and torture for petty crimes. Like cutting the hands of those who steal and rob. Death penalty will also solve the over population in prison. Bring in the gas chamber! Yes, it’s brutal but I can’t wait to walk in the streets ANYWHERE without worrying if I’d be robbed or shot. With the crimes going on, I don’t think the criminals mind going to prison. After all, if they’re already living in poverty they can stand prison. Prison is not much of a threat anymore and with the slow justice system and incapable NBI, FBI, SOCO, etc, it’s like an endless chase with these criminals getting away most of the time.

How many tribulations and how many people persevere with patience?

Look around you, to the right and to the left. Do you not see the afflicted and the unfortunate? In every house there is mourning and upon every cheek run tears.

How many tribulations and how many people persevere with patience? You are not alone in your troubles, which are few …compared to those of others. How many sick people remain bedridden for years while suffering from unspeakable pain?

How many have not seen the light of the sun for years due to their imprisonment, having knowledge of nothing but the four corners of their cell?

How many men and women have lost their dear children in the prime of youth?

How many people are troubled or tormented?

Find consolation with those that are worse off than you; know that this life is like a prison for the believer, an abode of grief and sadness. In the morning castles are bustling with inhabitants; then in an instant, disaster occurs, and they are empty and desolate. Life can be peaceful, the body in good health, wealth abundant, and children healthy; and yet in only a matter of days, poverty, death, separation, and sickness can all take their place.

{And you dwelt in the dwellings of men who wronged themselves, and it was clear to you how We had dealt with them. And We put forth [many] parables for you.} (Qur’an 14. 45)

You must adapt like the experienced camel, which manages, when necessary, to kneel upon a rock. You must also compare your difficulties with the difficulties of those around you, and with those that have come before you: you should realize that you are in good shape relative to them, and that you have merely been pricked by tiny difficulties. So praise Allah for His kindness, be thankful for what He has left for you, seek recompense from Him for what He has taken, and seek consolation with those that are afflicted.

You have a perfect example in the Prophet (bpuh). The entrails of a camel were placed upon his head; his feet bled; his face was fractured; he was besieged in a mountain pass until he was forced to eat tree leaves; he was driven out of Makkah; his front tooth was broken in battle; his innocent wife was accused of wrongdoing; seventy of his Companions were killed; he was bereaved of his son and of most of his daughters; he would tie a stone around his stomach to lessen the pangs of hunger; and he was accused of being a poet, a magician, a soothsayer, a madman, and a liar — all at the same time. Yet Allah protected him throughout these severe trials and tribulations. Prophet Zakariyah (Zacharia) was killed, Prophet Yahya (John) was slaughtered, Prophet Moosa (Moses) was afflicted with great trials, Prophet Ibraheem (Abraham) was thrown in the fire, (may peace be upon them all), and the Imams of righteousness followed them upon this path. ‘Umar was assassinated, as was ‘Uthmaan and ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with them all). Many scholars of the past have been flogged, imprisoned, or tortured.

{Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such [finals] as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty ailments and were shaken.} (Qur’an 2: 214)

What you should have also mentioned was that Allah tests those he loves. Those who live an easy relatively pain-free life will be very fearful on judgement day for they have not done good in this life.

Then, that these tests also take away sins one you, sometimes until you have no more sins left.

Well, the above two things is what brings me some comfort at least.

Should We Help PPL who Lost thier Jobs?

Lawmakers come back to work Monday facing a tough decision: Whether it’s more important to spend money to keep the economic recovery going or to watch their pennies.

One camp, made up mostly of Democrats, is arguing that Congress must spend to help cash-strapped states and people who are hurting from the downturn.

One camp, made up mostly of Democrats, is arguing that Congress must spend to help cash-strapped states and people who are hurting from the downturn.

Lawmakers don’t have much time to argue. They’ll be in session for a month before leaving for the extended August recess. And when they return after Labor Day, they’ll be wrapped up in the November elections and likely will get little done.

More than 2.1 million people are estimated to have lost their weekly jobless checks because Congress has not extended the deadline to file for federal unemployment insurance.

Lawmakers have been trying to pass a bill that would push the deadline until the end of November. But Senate Republicans have blocked the measure.

The recession killed off 7.9 million jobs. It’s increasingly likely that many will never come back.

The government jobs report shows that businesses have slowed their pace of hiring to a relative trickle. “The job losses during the Great Recession were so off the chart, that even though we’ve gained about 600,000 private sector jobs back, we’ve got nearly 8 million jobs to go,” said Lakshman Achuthan, managing director of Economic Cycle Research Institute.

Excluding temporary Census workers, the economy has added fewer than 100,000 jobs a month this year — a much faster and stronger jobs recovery than occurred following the last two recessions in 2001 and 1991.

But even if that pace of hiring were to double immediately, it would take until 2013 to recapture the lost jobs. And the labor market very likely doesn’t have years before it gets hit with the shock of the inevitable next economic downturn.

One of the big problems is that many of workers who have lost jobs were in industries that are not likely to recover their former strength.

“We’ve got the wrong people in the wrong place with the wrong skills,” said John Silvia, chief economist with Wells Fargo Securities. He said construction workers in California or Florida and auto workers in Michigan will have to relocate and retrain to find new jobs.

“As many as half the people who lost their jobs will have to find something else to do,” said Silvia.

The nation’s working-age population grows by about 150,000 people a month. So the hole is deeper than it looks.

It would take the creation of 10.6 million jobs immediately for the same percentage of the population to be working as was the case three years ago.

So Should we help those who have done nothing wrong and lost thier Job Thats never comming Back?

Or Should we Stop Spending for these ppl?

Can you give me a star plz???

Why do people say the NBA is so much more popular than the NHL?

The NHL had 16 teams with a relative sellout every game (98.5% or higher) while the NBA had only 8. The NHL also has higher ticket prices than the NBA by about three dollars per general admittion. The NHL even has higher local ratings on a case by case comparison. You can point out that the NBA tv ratings nationally are so higher but that can be rebut in several ways.

1. The NBA is a star not team first league. Just look at the road attendance. Teams with big stars draw well the ones without don’t. That’s why the range for road attendace percentage in the NBA is about 15% while in the NHL it’s about 10%. Since the NBA only shows a game with one big name at least in it (Kobe, Howard, Lebron, Wade, Anthony, Rose, Nash) fans with no team intrest watch. And since you can win with a big star on your team the teams in the late rounds of the playoffs have big names which boost ratings. This will ultimalty cause the NBA to be pretty much a 6 or 8 team league. The big spending teams will draw the big names and make the money (Boston, L.A., New York, Miami, Bulls, Dallas) while the rest of the teams can’t spend that much and just cut their loses and hope they cover their loses with revenue sharing. Look at the stars in smaller market cities that get drafted by a team and become the face of the team only to leave at the first sign of trouble or demand a trade to a big time market, (Lebron, Paul, Bosh, Amare, and Carmelo to name a few). How many time does that happen in the NHL outside of Kovie. You don’t see Alfredson, Nash, Broduer, Modano, Crosby, St. Louis or Tavares demanding a trade when their teams weren’t very good.

2. TV ratings don’t count Canada. Say what you want Canada has 20% of the NHL and get great TV ratings. If the U.S. anexed Canada (or vice versa) the every one would say the NHL is bigger than the NBA

I’m really interested in this psychoanalysis so from time to time I look up stuff like why people kill their children, beat their children, do whatever…etc…
Anyway, from what I’ve gathered, as crazy as it sounds, The are extremely depressed so they want to kill themselves. They don’t think they’ll ever come back from whatever is happening in their lives. But they don’t want their children and families to be sad, so they decided to kill them too. If no ones alive, no one gets hurt, you know? It’s backward reason, sure, but that’s pretty much what goes through their minds.

Your thought?
I would merely like insight, perhaps your opinions on what people should do in moments of crisis or just whatever.
It just seems that all these stories revolve around financial problems. There is financial assistance available and i’m sure they know it. Most of the people in these stories had very good jobs. I just don’t understand how people just snap like that. I feel like i’m living in a world full of wackos, ready to go postal at any moment…then to kill your own babies…why not leave them to family?

Failure, heartbreak, sadness can lead any one, to do a desperate act. Indeed, it is one thing to take yourself out, quite another to destroy your entire family…Realize that people just “snap” and in this economy? We shall see a lot more undoubtedly…it takes money to live and when a parent can’t provide, especially for their children as opposed to just having a spouse, well – sometimes they hit that rock bottom we hear about…

It is heart wretching, to state the very least…but that is what’s happening in our world – the reality of lost jobs and worse yet? Those perpetrators at the higher level who practice greed and deceit at our expense, day in and day out in their jobs. You know who I mean, we the working class have been screwed by these entities and they seem to be everywhere…The law is finally catching up to many of them, but the long term damage is done in many cases, as you have observed like the rest of us.

Unfortunately dear, this is the world we live in – let us hope we are turning the “corner” once again, that the scales are swinging back to middle ground in our economy and nation and world – and that better restraints through more stringent banking and fiscal control will keep this type of destruction from happening again in our nation. The resulting consequences continue to ruin families left and right…we haven’t bottomed out yet. Stay tuned.

Stephen Clinton answers:

In my opinion, a lot of younger adults (18 – 40) are spoiled brats, used to getting whatever they want, and not having to wait or work for it. When they are suddenly laid off or lose a job, they can’t get what they want any longer, and so, like the spoiled brats they are, they can’t cope.

Parents don’t want their children to suffer adversity, but some struggling is necessary if we’re to learn and build good, stable, strong character. Unfortunately, the last 25 years or so have been something of a party, and parents are much more interested in the acquisition of things than in raising their own children. They feel guilty because they work all day and leave their kids to be raised by strangers. They refuse to discipline their kids because they want all their time together to be warm and fuzzy. And most importantly, they refuse to believe that their children could have character flaws – instead of punishing children for bullying others, they bully the adults who inform them of their children’s misbehavior, shielding the kids from reprisals.

It’s no wonder kids can’t cope. They are never required to by their weak, selfish parents, who are too interested in living through their kids and providing every whim for them than in raising self-sufficient, resourceful, strong kids who know how to manage their emotions, treat others, and work through adversity.

When it rains, it pours…?

Here’s my situation to those who care to read:

Right now I’m living with a relative rent-free, I’m working two part-time jobs, making very little cash. Definitely not enough to get my own place. The person giving me free shelter is going to move soon and she’s NOT taking me with her. I was already homeless most of last year sleeping in my car and on the street, it was one of the darkest times of my life – and I can’t believe that I’m about to be in this situation AGAIN. Even with two jobs. I have very little friends and family who care, and the friends who I would consider living with as roommates are too lazy and demotivated to go through the process of renting an apartment. They would rather continue living with their parents or relying on other people for shelter. Personally, I am sick of it. At 21 years old, I can’t believe I’m not living on my own by now and even in this god-awful economy it seems most people my age can hack it. But I can’t. Top that off with years of suffering with clinical depression and poor self-esteem, it’s pretty obvious that I’m not feeling so good about life right now. I never really have. I’m seeing a therapist right now, but she can’t help me with my financial situation. I could go live in a homeless shelter and then technically I’ll have a roof over my head BUT living in that kind of environment will make my psychological state even worse and prompt suicide thoughts. I feel sick to my stomach just thinking about it. I’m just lost and I suppose it’s my fault I’m so lonely because I avoid most people from lack of trust and stay indoors 99% of the time when I’m not working. I’ve been told to put my faith in “God” but I just don’t buy it. So if you have any advice I would kindly ask that you not tell me to “pray” or “go to church” or anything because it won’t cut it. Thank you and looking forward to reading your feedback.

The first thing i’d suggest doing is looking for a job that pays better. Even if you don’t have any sort of degrees there are plenty of jobs that will pay decently if you look hard enough. Try getting some sort of desk job during the day and then wait tables or bartend at night. You would easily be able to afford a place to live on those salaries.

As for your current living situation, if you can’t find anyone to stay with untill you’re able to save enough money for an apartment you could go to a local church if you’re comfortable with it. I don’t know much about that, but i know that many of them will work with you and try to help you find a job or at least a place to stay.

Love western Culture Hate ethnic Culture?

I am from muslim Back ground but born brought up here my parents are liberal and very easy going they love the free western culture themselves, but that does not mean we drink alcohol or anything.
I am talking about music, dress, television programs, friends etc,

I have other muslim girls in our school who say that I should attach myself with my ethnic culture. i.e: wear headscarf (totally disagree with that)
listen to their cultural music and way of dress (why should i)

I don’t understand their way of life and culture if i love this way of life and culture, within my own limits i.e. i do not go around sleeping with others, that can happen in any culture nothing to do with western culture.

I want to know are there any other muslim people out there who loves western free, liberal, un-oppressive way of life, and are into this cultures music, clothes etc.

here you do not have to worry oh my arms, hair, legs are showing there that is continuous tension, and if seen accused of trying to attract attention for adultery. therefore women are uncomfortable to participate in sports activities such as swimming, etc,

here you are free to stand sit, walk with other men, there you are treated like aliens separate lanes, sections on buses, sitting places, come on you get lost and separated from your male relatives absolutely pathetic.

still all these does not stop men from looking at you here men subdue their eyes, there the men gawp at the women even though they are in their heavy clothes as if they are piercing there eyes to look underneath them, very disrespectful.

I am not talking about rude and bad stuff, that is in every society and country the only difference is here it is open, there it is behind close doors and are very hypocritical i.e no it does not happen in our society or culture (it does worse, oppress women through long heavy clothes, womans rights are not recognized to that of men’s, honor killing etc.)

here it is up to you what you choose it is between you and God not people to start taking out uncivilized, unfair punishment and here women’s freedom is appreciated not disapproved of. and i am not talking about sexual freedom, i am talking about many, many general libeties, driving, jobs, divorce, allimony, widow benefit, right to choose who you marry, property, business ownership freedom.

In muslim countries they say yes we do have these rights for women. but come on their culture oppresses those rights severely with help of other family members and government.

I say those countries and their culture are hypocrites they make do not like western culture, yet wish they all lived here, and put on a facade that their way of life is the ideal way.
Not to mention that always have to be accompanying with male relation when going out doors to make sure her ’honor’ is not violated by herself or from others and to prevent people from slandering against her character, what a miserable way of life, here you can go out where you want and people do not go around harassing alone women or maliciously slander against her character.

Trying to start a SIDS outreach center…?

So here’s my idea:
I am currently in college persuing a degree in childcare development. I hope to expand upon that degree and eventually persue a phd in child education or psychology.
But what I would really like to do is start an outreach center in my community for all families affected by SIDS. The program would focus on everything from SIDS prevention education (Back to Sleep, creating a safe enviroment, prenatal care, help with quitting smoking etc.) to grief counseling and support groups for families, and specialized counseling for siblings who have lost a brother or sister to SIDS. The program would also offer services for relatives of the family who have lost babies to SIDS to better enable communication and healing among family members (and friends).
I’ve got so many ideas and I definitely want to start the planning process while I’m in school. Do you think this sounds like a resource people would use? Good idea, bad idea? Just looking for general opinions.
*This center would also offer full services for any family who has lost a child for whatever reason. I just don’t feel that there are truly adequate resources available in many places that are free.

I think it’s a good idea. But I also think it all depends on where this center would be located. There are not alot of SIDS deaths, but if you were to offer services to others that have lost their children as well, it might be worth the shot.

Inheritance and property taxes- forced inheritance?

In 2007 my Husband’s Grandfather died. No will. Survived by two daughters. One in my Mother in law.

The two daughters do not get along well, and have fought for years.
After the death, my mother in law gave her sister paperwork so that she could go to probate court and get the property in her name- although they would receive it 50/50, she told the sister- go ahead and take it so we can keep it in the family. There was already taxes due on the property. She thought the sister was now the owner.

Right now, the house needs to be demolished- 100% unlivable, and more taxes due. It’s a money pit, but the lot is huge, and would be a good place to rebuild. It might be worth it to someone if all they had to do was pay court costs, lawyers fees and back taxes to get the lot for “free” past that.

Relatives come to her to say a city inspector came to look at the house. (they live next to it)

The city says either sign it over, or pay the taxes and keep it.

My father in law says he was told by the city that they MUST pay the back taxes on the property, they have no choice in the matter.

I said: don’t accept the property. Don’t accept the inheritance, and then you won’t be liable. The property is lost to the family, but you won’t be in debt either.

He said that if they keep or sign it over- they have to pay the taxes either way. My mother in law is all upset because it’s 3,000-4,000 in taxes she thinks she will be forced to pay unless someone in the family steps up and takes control of the property.

I told my father in law there is no way that someone can FORCE you to inherit something.

If that was the case, I would make sure I got a property, get loads of back taxes before I die and bequeath it to my worst enemy. It makes no sense whatsoever.

He keeps insisting they will be forced to pay these taxes on this property whether they keep it or not, that it’s city law.

Could this be possible?
Oh- and since she doesn’t get on with her sister, she doesn’t think she can give the property to anyone because the sister won’t sign over her share just to be difficult. (She doesn’t even have a current phone number)

As to solving your problem:

You may be able to get a court to order a “forced sale”, meaning that the property gets sold, with or without the consent of the sister, as much money from the sale as necessary to pay the taxes is used to pay the taxes, and the rest is split between the former owners. This often happens in divorce cases.

As far as your actual question:

She could have refused the inheritance though a very specific legal procedure that may be calling “disclaiming” or filing a “Disclaimer of Interest” in 2007, but that was three years ago. You cannot retroactively refuse it. If this procedure was not followed, within the time allowed by law, then it is not a “forced” inheritance. It is an inheritance that she has voluntarily, and irrevocably, accepted by not disclaiming (formally refusing) it within the time allowed by law.

You do not have to accept an inheritance, but once you do accept it, or do not reject it in time, you are stuck with it, and cannot reverse your decision.

If you left a property to your worst enemy for the purpose of creating a “forced” inheritance, your worst enemy would properly disclaim the inheritance, and have no tax obligation.

But you did not do that, and it is too late now.
